Growing Regions

Cottonseed

Generally Cotton is planted from September to November and harvested from April to June*.

  • Cottonseed is a product from cotton lint production.
  • Inside the fluffy white cotton ball is the cottonseed; the cotton ball is processed at a cotton gin where the lint is machine separated from the seeds.
  • Used for making cooking oil that is suitable for healthier deep frying and making salad dressings and sauces.

Canola

Generally planted from April to June and harvested from October to December*.

  • Canola oil is considered healthy because it is low in saturated fat, is a monounsaturated fat, has an ideal balance of omega fatty acids and is a good source of vitamin E.
  • Canola is also a major ingredient in biodiesel and is the preferred oil for the fast food industry.
  • Used for making cooking oil that is suitable for healthier deep frying and making salad dressings and sauces.
